A "GM" crop is a genetically modified version of an otherwise common crop, for example, say that you have a potato plant, and want it to more resistant to some critters and pesticides, the final version of that new potato plant would be a genetically modified crop. (GM for short)
The art of genetically modifying crop has the potential to do great things for the society, but also great harm, super fast growing crops, as well as the ability to be more resistant to critters and chemicals can be a great advantage, but these "super crops" may become, "super weeds" by passing the immunization gene on to cross pollinated plants,

Fruits are being modified to last longer on market shelves, and to have more vitamins and minerals, and pizza is being modified by the animals used to make the cheese, pepperoni, and of course, the wheat is being modified to be more resistant to pests and other things.
